Changing my mindset was hard: understanding that eating MORE can help you achieve your goals can be confusing. Especially through seeing your weight on the scales changing. This is 3 years difference, and 15-20 pounds difference (I'm heavier now🙌🏼💪🏼) #HealthBuilding ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👈🏼On the left I was lost: I was terrified of food, I was weak, and my anxiety was controlling my life. I had panic disorder. I was a cardio bunny and only saw exercise as a way to burn calories, and I was massively under eating (and then binge eating on 'clean'* foods). If you are struggling with an eating disorder PLEASE seek expert help: trust me, you will NOT regret it. 🙏🏼 Please realise that eating 300 calories per day is NOT healthy and is highly disordered eating: it is NOT good/healthy and it is very dangerous.
*There is no such thing as a 'clean' food. Sure, some foods are more micronutrient dense than others, but eating foods which aren't micronutrient dense is OKAY! Everything. In. Moderation. 🙌🏼
👉🏼Now: I have educated myself and LEARNED so much. I weight train 4 or 5 times per week and eat over 6x the amount I was eating on the left! I do HIIT once or twice per week if I feel like it, but if I don't then I don't stress about it! It's all about what works for YOU and your lifestyle! Remember: your goals HAVE to fit in with your lifestyle/job/uni/etc. My lifestyle means I travel a LOT: on the left, this would stress me out massively. I was so obsessive over eating MY foods and training in an exact way, but learning how to ADAPT is so, so important for long term success!

If you ever feel like you’ve no hope,I promise recovery is possible. If ur at the stage where you do not see life outside the bubble of where you are now(whether that be an eating disorder or not) I again,promise u that bubble will be popped one day, &you’ll walk to the land of freedom, back into life,or else discover what life really is again.
The photo on the left was taken excactly this day LAST YEAR. Yes, what. I can’t even comprehend it myself.
In that left photo I was stuck in that bubble, with absolutely no desire to come back out again.
Recovery is not linear&there is no manual. There will be set backs and relapses and moments you grasp the tiniest bits of life right back for a minute.
Pls notice my dead lifeless face on the left,my thin hair, my inability to try on that jumpsuit without taking my leggings off because I was fucking freezing and just did not have the energy.
It was not a choice to have such a warped way of thinking which led to all that, I had the choice to eat or not to eat, what was the point when I “knew” life would not get any better than then and there!!!?? Why would I want to willingly eat if healthy=fat and fat=being even more miserable. Silly silly silly.
I’ll tell u what is a choice. Recovery. Unless you commit it’s never going to happen, never. Not once in the 3 years of inpatient and outpatient appointments and 96192 types of different therapies the medications and hospital threats did I think I was ver going to get better.I told the pros not to bother with me anymore because deep down I knew I didn’t want to get better because better was worse.
How did you recover?? A Q I am ALWAYS being asked.
My determination to want to become physically strong beat any other desire to stay frail. It was becoming boring.I only began to ate again because I was so hungry,my body was starving actually.It was no longer a physical hunger but a mental one where my brain got high from gorging biscuits and chocolate and toast and any other foods which had been forbidden almost my entire teenage years.It was something which I couldn’t control.
What truly marks my progress: I once cried of guilt into a salad, now Id cry of laughter at 1
