An aerial view of the Icelandic Highlands in summer 🚁 The patterns in these rhyolite mountains when the snow melts can result in interesting shapes. Sometimes the ridgelines even look like orcas! During winter, these patterns are not able to be seen as the mountains are completely smothered in a deep layer of snow ☃️ Have you ever wanted to visit the mysterious, unexplored area of the Highlands? I have just put the finishing touches on a new camping photo workshop! Check out the link in my BIO for more info ☺️
I often got asked during my trip here in Iran, if I wasn’t scared to travel alone, two women alone in a country like this. Why should I be? Why should I let fear control my life? Of course I would not travel to a country like Afghanistan for example, where real danger occurs. But that’s real danger there, fear is not real. Fear is only created in people’s imagination. Iran is a safe country, if I couldn’t travel here, then I couldn’t travel to Paris, London or Barcelona because the chance that something will happen to me there, is probably higher.
First question we always got asked on the road was, where are your men? You two women are travelling alone?? Really?? Aren’t your afraid? Women often think they need a man to protect them, to be safe. Because they are taught this from the start. It’s absolutely rare here in this country that women travel alone, especially they way we did. Sleeping in the van, in the middle of nowhere, driving through the whole country without a plan.
Fear is being used all over the world to control people. Especially in politics and also in religion. And this leads to hate.
So, to everyone out there, especially women, stop living your fears, and start living your dreams. I wish we encourage more women to start living their dream and stop being scared. Because life is too short to let fear stop you from having fun. #iranissafe
