Showcasing the top photos of Tasmania, thanks @tasmania
Morning mist shrouds the glacial ridges and ancient trees that surround Lake Rhona in this atmospheric image from @stuart.bowling.
In the foreground are the pink quarzite sands of the lake's beach - unusual not only because of their colour, but also because Lake Rhona is located 900 metres above sea level! Rhona is located deep within the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park in Tassie's south. The 2 to 3-day, 28-kilometre return hike takes you through buttongrass marshland and into the stunning Denison Range. En-route the track passes through Gordonvale, site of the once thriving homestead of big-hearted local Ernie Bond, who welcomed hikers between the 1930s and 1950s.
