all my life, i was told, i was never nothing special.
I don't need to be reminded of it every other second. 'specially when all my self-esteem's
already shot to hell, I'm falling helplessly.
I'm embarrased, i don't want no one else to see.
DARRYL'S TOP 50 ALBUMS OF 2017: 42
Song Choice: Comin Out Strong // I never would have thought I'd have a Future album of an end of the year list. Future consistently keeps it hype, but I can never sit through an entire album. This album changed all that. I guess you can call it a 'softer' Future, yet still lit af. #trap#hiphop#rap#rnb#Future#HNDRXX#bestalbumsof2017

#8: Lil Uzi Vert -b
i’ll start with this- uzi is overhated in a lot of aspects. he gets grouped in with “mumble rappers” a lot, and maybe that’s fair, but i’ve also found him to be a lot more talented in a lot of aspects when compared to other rappers labeled “mumble rappers”. his best aspect to his music is the production and beat selection as he rarely raps over a beat i don’t like and still manages to keep his sound very unique. a great example is Ps and Qs, a very unorthodox beat that uzi flows incredibly well on and it creates a great song. uzi’s flow is his most underrated talent as i hear many people hate on it when it’s something i love about uzi. he takes so many unorthodox beats and flows over them with ease, examples being sideline watching or seven million. i also love uzi’s ability to slow it down just a bit and connect on a love song but still make it hard as fuck, examples being you was right, you’re lost, the way life goes, and buy it. nothing really needs to be said about xo tour llif3, it’s hard as fuck and only hated because it’s overplayed. lastly, uzi’s adlibs are overhated. he has fun and puts fun shit into his songs. people just like to pick on stuff like that because it’s not “real rap”. while it’s unorthodox, i believe sometimes it’s okay to listen to music for fun and it doesn’t always have to have crazy lyrical value, and for me, uzi is my favorite artist for that. however, luv is rage 2 was a flop and had a lot of songs i wasn’t a fan of. the way life goes is a great song though and one of my favorite uzi songs. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
