After a Deer call this morning my coat had that deers scent all over it. Nugget did not like that one bit. My new scent definitely confused her all day. Every time I went in the pen she tried sparring with me 😁 Mocha’s looking at her like, what the heck it’s just Mom 😉#bestnonpayingjobever#neveradullmoment#volunteerlife

From Trump reversing the ban on importing elephant ‘trophies’ into the US to the British Government denying that animals are sentient, it’s clear that the world is run by psychopaths who are making us go backwards in the fight for #AnimalRights
Of course animals feel pain and have emotions but the real question is - are humans capable of emotion, notably those in power? As it sure doesn’t seem like it.
A vote by MPs to reject the inclusion of animal sentience into the EU (Withdrawal) Bill is extremely disappointing and undermines the Government’s ambition to achieve the highest animal welfare standards post-Brexit, claims the RSPCA.
Under EU law, animals are recognised as sentient beings who feel pain and emotions. Eighty percent of current animal welfare legislation comes from the EU but after March 2019, European law will no longer apply in the UK.
While most EU law relating to animals will be automatically brought over into UK law, this will not apply to the recognition of sentience. The RSPCA has therefore been pressing for the recognition of animal sentience to be embedded into future UK legislation, to help ensure that leaving the EU is not a backwards step.
RSPCA Head of Public Affairs David Bowles said: “It’s shocking that MPs have given the thumbs down to incorporating animal sentience into post-Brexit UK law. This is truly a backward step“
“Animals are not ‘commodities’ and any laws impacting on them needs to take into account their capacity to suffer. They are sentient beings, with feelings and emotions. As the EU Withdrawal Bill continues its progress through Parliament we will once again be urging for this important acknowledgement of animal sentience to be included”
Research shows that much like humans, animals are sentient beings and aware of their feelings and emotions. Their lives matter to them and they have the same capacity to feel joy and pleasure, as well as pain and suffering.
@Regranned from @a_lallie_new - My heart 💔 .
If someone beat a child to death with a hairdryer, they’d be jailed for life (or even sentenced to death in some countries) because we have #HumanRights but do the exact same thing to an animal as this case shows and they’ll just get away with it.
This is why the fight for #AnimalRights is so important as like children, animals are innocent, vulnerable and entirely at our mercy, so they deserve the same protections from harm and the same justice.
I don’t know what else to say. I just feel so angry yet so sad. That poor puppy must have suffered horrendously and the person who left the dog with the groomer must be beside themselves with regret and grief. RIP beautiful pup. You were too good and pure for this cruel world inhabited by human monsters 😢 .

The annual turkey pardoning at the state Capitol plaza went off the rails when animal activists crashed the ceremony to draw attention to conditions of the poultry farming industry. The activists were part of Direct Action Everywhere, an organization that recently released photos and video taken undercover at a Norbest plant in Moroni that showed diseased and mistreated turkeys. Norbest is one of the largest marketing cooperatives in the United States, selling turkeys raised by some 40 Utah farmers. Combined, it produces 5 million turkeys annually. Photo by Al Hartmann.

That feeling of love that we get when we see an innocent, vulnerable animal is the best part of who we are as a species. We should live our lives so that no animal, anywhere, would ever fear us. Protect the innocent, defend the vulnerable. #animalrights
