Not usually one for self-admiration and certainly not one to show my body, but since I am trying to keep on track and get right into this #fitness
thing I may as well chuck in a progress photo especially as I have slightly eased off this past month!
This is the difference between February 2017 (right) when I was still feeling really low, 7 months after the end of a long term relationship. I was already a #sometimesrunner
but a fantastic GP suggested I go on a programme with Edinburgh Leisure, which aims to help improve mental health and wellbeing. I'd just joined another gym, so decided not to use the resource, but hit training a bit harder.
The left image was taken in August, after taking Pilates, Pump and the usual running. It was the day of the Great Aberdeen Run. Since then I have run another half marathon, have had the good fortune to win a month of personal training, then took out another month to build up my confidence with strength training. I don't just want to be a skinny minnie, but to be strong. Physically and mentally.
I feel like I have moved mountains.
I know it may not fix everything, but when you have low to moderate mental health concerns, I can totally recommend exercise.
