Oh hi there 👋🏽 •••
Feeling inspired by some of these #realtalk posts I’ve been seeing lately, thought it was time I shared one of my own. •••
In the grand scheme of things, I’m a pretty private person. An introvert.
I got into social media when I decided I wanted to compete with the WBFF and I stepped it up as I acquired various sponsors along the way.
The things is, no one ever says “don’t post when you’re not at your best” but it’s more than heavily implied.
This new wave of sharing the reality of rebounds, post-show fluff, and being a post-competing human, is so refreshing in contrast to the “take a million pictures in different outfits while you’re shredded and post them throughout the year, regardless of what the reality is” mentality that’s been all too prevalent.
There are always going to be people that manage to look crazy lean and amazing year round (dare to dream) but there are soooo many more people battling hormones/thyroid issues/unhealthy relationships with food/metabolic damage/adrenal issues, etc etc.
The fact of the matter for me is, after having competed on the WBFF Pro World stage, and accomplishing as many goals as I did... and then dealing with multiple health issues after the fact... injuries that forced me to stop training for nearly a year, and metabolic/thyroid/hormone issues that made finding a sense of normalcy feel impossible... I became even harder on myself than I already was, and an even more private person than ever before. Striving to reassemble my health & find balance while trying to enjoy my life was often times overwhelming and defeating.
However, with perseverance all things are possible. Being able to finally stand in the mirror and see hints of lines coming through, while working 11 hr days and enjoying flexibility in my schedule/training/diet, feels pretty amazing.
Unfortunately, social media often makes those accomplishments feel minor and insignificant... not worth sharing... not impressive... but the fact of the matter is, health, in all shapes and sizes, real health, is noteworthy and worth being proud of.
