Abu Dharr (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me, "Shall I tell you the expression that is most loved by Allah?" It is 'Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi' (Allah is free from imperfection and His is the praise)'." [Muslim]. #dhikir#remembrance#allah#hijab#perfect#quotes#islamicposts
Our Hydro One family is grieving the loss of four of our own following a tragic helicopter accident that occurred in the Tweed area on December 14. Our focus remains on supporting each of their families, loved ones and our employees during this time.
2012 Throwback: Pearly Kings and Queens are a charitable tradition in London. The practice of wearing clothes decorated with so-called pearl originated in the 19th century and the "royal" titles can only be inherited.
Passing through Victorville and stopped at the grave of Brownie the Railroad Dog; his I find to be one of the most compelling animal stories in California history. He was a stray, struck by a car and near death when he crawled into the railroad station here in the early 1940s and begged the men of the line for help. The railway men took him in and tended him, and against all odds he survived. In the process a bond grew; the dog and the men of the railroad became inseperable. He accompanied them on the line, his ears flapping in the wind when the train reached full speed, and eventually they promoted him to station master in Victorville, and it was the little brown and white dog who met all incoming trains abd greeted the passengers. When the war came, the men at the station each gave up parts of their meat rations to make sure Brownie had enough to eat. Sadly, one day in 1945, he bounded onto the track but one of the train cars didn't have its brake set. It lunged forward and struck Brownie, who died there in the very trainyard that had been his home. They buried him in under his favorite tree in a park just outside the station. Decades passed. The trains no longer stopped and the station was abandoned. The city decided to develop the land, and no one worried about the forgotten history. But Brownie was not forgotten. One day the construction crew arrived to find a bunch of very old men in their yard. Grizzled and bent old men, old railroad men. They told the workers they could tear up the old railyard however they wanted--but they had better not touch Brownie's grave. A stand off ensued and the old men would not move. Brownie's grave was not to be demolished. A compromise was struck. Brownie's grave would be saved, but the old railway men agreed that it could be moved to the parking lot across the street, with the understanding that it be preserved in perpetuity. It was the least they could do, after all, for a friend and a pal. Photo number 2 is Brownie, taken from a railroad newsletter from the 1940s. Number three is taken from his obituary in the local newspaper. #famousdogs#dogstories#petcemetery#grave#californiahistory#remembrance#memorial#straydog

Amazing what you find when you venture slightly outside the tourist spots... It is reassuring to know that there are still some people who remember, and appreciate, the sacrifices made during the two world wars. It is indeed a great shame that the intricacies of these wars are not taught in schools and far too seldom understood by the general population. #poppy#greatbritain#ww2#ww1#remembrance#respect#rip#portsmouth#england#uk#unitedkingdom
On her 50th birthday (green dress) we surprised her with a party and trip to Vegas. On her 60th (white fur & limo) we gifted her with a Caribbean cruise with 25 of us in tow. On her 65th birthday (purple dress) we surprised her with a Birthday party where she danced the night away with her children and grandchildren. A year and a half later she was gone. As much as she is missed, I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to know we celebrated her while she was here.
Happy Birthday to my beautiful mother and thank you for the endless memories that chase the tears away. ❤️
