Who’s excited about watching season 2 of The Crown on Netflix? 👸🏻 Think I might have to start watching it tonight!
On another note, British bunting makes a great gift for the expat or Anglophile in your life. Have just restocked this Queen one in my Etsy shop. It features corgis, Buckingham Palace, crowns, union jacks and even the queen herself!

In my opinion, the British Empire was a force of good and that they have created the modern and civilized world we have today. I consider myself a loyalist and while I do acknowledge that they have done some terrible things throughout it’s existence, they have also done a lot of good and made a huge good impact in the world. During the 1800’s, no other power did more to abolish slavery and the slave trade in the modern world than did the British Empire. The British treasury spent enormous sums to liberate slaves. The Royal Navy had, as a primary duty, the eradication of the slave trade and in fact abolish in the slave trade became a major factor driving the expansion of the British Empire. They also banned widow burning in India and lots of other barbaric practices. The British Empire spread the ideals of limited government, independent judiciary, inalienable rights, free markets, western civilization, democracy and freedom throughout the world. The British through their empire spread great benefits to the areas under it’s influence spreading technology, a modern and civilized rule of law, innovations in education, medical care, railways, keeping the peace between previously warring tribes and religions and much more. It was the British Empire alongside with it’s allies and the United States that defended freedom and liberal (not modern liberalism) ideals in two colossal world wars. What is your opinion on the British Empire? Was it a force for good or bad?
