Ahhh, if only you can lie down & have a nap, right? It's a shame you can't so you reach for chocolate or another sugar treat & wash it down with another cup of coffee. You now feel a little better but once the short term buzz subsides from these yummy substances you experience an almighty crash in energy & so the cycle continues; you reach for more sugar & caffeine just to get you through the day.

Depending on the reason you need to forgive yourself for sometimes it's easier said than done. If you need support why not give reiki a go ๐Ÿ˜ณ. Yep I tried it last week & it's pretty cool! I went in with no expectations, no-judgement & with nothing to lose. What I loved about it is I didn't have to do anything except lie there, fully clothed ๐Ÿ‘ & the therapist just did her thing.

For 30 years reiki kept appearing in my life but I just ignored it &  I judged it as woo-woo. Maybe it is, then again maybe it isn't. Maybe it's just a placebo affect but I have definitely experienced an internal shift even though I didn't do it for any purpose other than curiosity ๐Ÿง

๐Ÿ‘Ensure you get your zzzz's each night by establishing a night time routine which is conducive for sleep. This may have to include turning off all smart screens at least 1 hour before sleep or at least use a blue light filter.

In can be hard to get through a whole day without some sort of vice or a little laziness! Perhaps the word laziness is a bit harsh but you know what I mean. ๐Ÿ™ˆ I used to be an all or nothing type of person... exercise for 2 hours or not at all! ๐Ÿ™ƒ These days I'm much gentler with myself. ๐Ÿค— If after donning my favourite pair of sneakers I'm still not in the mood to exercise or if I can't even muster the motivation to just place one foot in front of the other & simply go for a walk... this is what I do. โœจ I find some quiet time where I won't be disturbed & practice some deep breathing. โœจ I try & get out of my head & into my glorious body instead. โœจ I think about my heart, my arteries, my muscles & my bones. โœจ With each breath I take I visualise the oxygen feeding & nourishing my cells. ๐Ÿ’ช

Sometimes just by doing this little exercise it gives me the impetus to do something more vigourous but if it doesn't it's ok. ๐Ÿ™Œ

I hope you had a rejuvenating weekend & ready to conquer your week? To help you supercharge your day here's a matcha tea smoothie with nutritious & yummy ingredients. It's been noted that one cup of green matcha tea has the same nutritional value as drinking 3 cups of regular green tea so 1-2 cups per day is all that you'll need. Wow that's impressive! Sometimes matcha tea can taste slightly bitter & overpowering so it's best not to be heavy handed with it.

2 handfuls baby spinach
1 cup icy cold water
1 tbs hot water
2 tbs almond or sunflower seed butter
1 tbs coconut oil
1 tbs ground flax or chia seeds
½ teaspoon matcha green tea powder
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
optional - sweetener of choice & to taste

In a small bowl, mix the hot water with the matcha green tea powder & pour into your blender then add the remaining ingredients. Blend & enjoy!

PORTION CONTROL CHALLENGE

Portion control is one of the biggest contributing factors when it comes to reaching your health goals. Too much of anything is not a good thing. If I believe something is healthy I sometimes give myself permission to eat a little extra under the belief if it's healthy I won't gain any weight... boy am I wrong! Do you do the same?

Watching your portion size can absolutely mean the difference between success & failure in any weight loss or fitness journey.  Too much of anything is not a good thing! It’s a lot easier than you think though. A lot of it comes down to what’s right in front of you when you actually sit down to eat. •
Researchers in Australia studied 100 adults in a portion control study. After educating the participants on 'eating slowly' and eating only until they were full, the researchers gave one group a 600-gram portion of macaroni & tomato sauce & the other group 350 grams of the exact same meal. Overall, the large-portion participants ate 34 percent more food than those given the smaller helping.

This goes to show that even if you’re educated & know how to eat slowly, most people will eat what’s right in front of them. So the key here is to be mindful of what you put on your plate, bowl & even your blender!

Some people thrive on high carb diets whilst others on high protein. Some people go dairy free whilst others just got to have their cheese. I truly believe there is no one ideal diet but rather many paths ๐ŸŒˆ to the top of the mountain so what works for one doesn't for another.

What does work for every single one of us though is incorporating more plant based foods into our regime hence the reason my recipes are mostly vegan. I actually dislike that word though as it implies vegans are more superior to others... this simply is not true. Whole foods, plant based is a better description.

Whether you follow paleo, vegan, vegetarian, pescetarian, fruitarian, fodmap, gluten free, dairy free, grain free, legume free, nut free, high carb, low carb, high protein, low protein, high fat, low fat, blood type, macrobiotic, junk food or whatever, just add more plant foods onto your plate (or blender!) & reap all of its glorious rewards.
