Surely not a popular opinion, nor one that’ll have others eagerly nodding along in agreement, but I’ve always found this humble little chicken rice store among the best I’ve tried. This nondescript stall’s very adorably called Snack Shop, and has been very reliably feeding the residents of Simei for what may easily be 2 decades. Simply put: it’s been here since before I was born. A hidden secret among the residents (trust me, no one brags about this cause queues among us are long enough), the Snack Shop’s been doing so so well cause they’ve bailed every component of the classic chicken rice. Fragrant rice that’s moist but not clumpy; chickens that are always immensely flavourful, every part of the bird tender and super duper juicy; and most importantly, well-balanced chilli sauce packing quite the bunch. #Burpproved
Another one of our favourite iced Dutch coffees (but one that is less value for money given the small quantity in a deceptive huge cup - D is not pleased) and a strawberry chocolate cake! Unfortunately, we didn't like this cake very much as we are not big fans of chocolate and the texture of the cake was quite rough. That said we still deem @thepound_sg to be eatverest-worthy because of the quality of their iced Dutch coffee as well as their earl grey roll cake which is way way nicer!

Review: I’m always envious of people staying near a dessert café in their neighbourhood, especially an ice cream shop. It is so convenient and you can literally have it anytime you want (except when the shop is closed). Situated in the Macpherson neighbourhood, Alfero Gelato is an award-winning ice cream parlour that uses the finest quality ingredients from Italy. Additionally, the ice creams here are 96% FAT FREE, and that means you can eat more without feeling conscious about your weight.
Also, the staffs (two old ladies) are super friendly and it really makes your trip to the ice cream parlour very worthwhile. So, anytime you have an ice cream craving, you should know where to go now! Review on @alferogelato available on my blog and the link is in my bio!
Matcha lava cake with Hokkaido milk soft serve, azuki beans, shiratama, cotton candy n a big n cute Miffy butter cookie - for the matcha cake, there was no matcha lava as I cut it after a while... taste of matcha is evident but it’s a sweet cake. Cute!
