There is nothing wrong with being mad as hell. Love yourself, your neighbor, your community, your country, and your world enough to be outraged when hatred is present. Love can be mad but it is never hopeless. It gets to work every single day. What does your work look like? The work on yourself? The work on your family? The work in your community? Let's get to work. I love you.
The little things. I've always felt that those matter most. Grand gestures are amazing and I'm all for them... but at the end of the day, it's the little things that stay with us longer. When I look back at past loves, the men who stand out are the ones who brought me coffee in bed or warmed my car for me in the winter or held my hand when they knew I was anxious or nervous without me having to utter a word.
I've always felt that those moments in our day that are fleeting or catch us off guard are what makes a day memorable. Crazy things my dogs do, a smile from a stranger, a joke or chorus in a song, etc. Equally important are those moments that frustrate or bring up a flash of anger before passing or flickering out like a firefly. Those are the moments that teach.
I'd heard somewhere a quote that said we are all just walk-on parts in someone else's story. That stayed with me... and made me think of the little things that we can do to connect with those around us. Especially with the bullshit happening in some areas of the world.
So as you go to sleep or wake to start you're day, honor the little things. Pay attention to them. And give them the love they deserve... - xx
