We try to remind ourselves to look at the bigger picture and trust our gut when making life decisions. Some say we're foolish for embarking on our bus adventure and not having more security planned for our future. Some say we're silly to believe our creativity will provide income. Some say we're dreamers and need a slap of reality. And some claim we're trust fund babies living off old money (LOL). With judgements from so many others, at times it's hard not to question our choices that led us to this point. But then there are those who continue to support and send positivity our way. "Good for you, do it while you're young," is a phrase that gives us that extra boost of confidence and enthusiasm to keep moving forward. We hope to inspire folks to pursue their dreams, no matter how BIG or tiny, and to challenge the status quo. #liverefreshed@hydroflask
Shasta is a special place to us as it holds many of our 1st's. It's the first 14'er we climbed. It's the first destination we drove our bus to years ago. And it's the first town we visited that has crystal shops everywhere (nearly 19 of them)! Regardless if you believe in the spiritual/mythical stories about Shasta, you can't help but feel connected to Mother Nature as she embraces you with lush greenery, fresh air, and cotton candy sunsets.
"Good friends are like stars, you don't always see them but you know they're always there!" - quote on the box. 😊 So true right? Thankfully we're back home for the holidays visiting friends and family. We look forward to spending much needed quality time with everyone, and switching our bus from mountain gear, to beach swag. We hear Mexico calling our names!
Snow is on the ground and Navi is parked in the same spot it was built less than 9 months ago. I will be parked here till New Years. I am going to be fixing a few things and spending the holidays with the family. Set sail in January!!!
Here's a pic of me going IS THIS WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT and doing the Egyptian dance. I hope I can entertain all the new folks following our journey of the good ole bus life. Thanks for choosing us on #skooliesunday, @trebventure. You guys rule 💫🚌 #tinyfriends
my first bus flow!!!!
my yoga practice is pivotal for my wellness.
in few words, it allows me to drop outta my mind and feel into the deep-truth subtleties that i'd otherwise miss.
really excited that we'll be keeping the "living room" fairly open, just like this, so that i can practice inside on cold days. ive got enough room for everything except handstands! 🤗
Started on the rock wall today and wanted to show you what we got so far! Still needs some work but we are excited that we could execute what we were thinking. Eventually we will have a roof deck and we'll be able to climb up using our rock wall😄 #rockclimbing#bouldering
PARKING OUR BUS.... Parking, its pretty tricky!! I wont say exactly where we park, reason being most everywhere we park were not wanted. In 20 months weve never paid to park the bus but theres a price to that choice, at any moment there can be a knock telling us to gtfo. Typically people are very rude about it. Especially Walmart, most walmarts arent allowing even one night in there lot! They always send out that sassy bitch that thinks she owns the joint to tell us to leave. We are VERY friendly, just ask nicely and we'll dip. Weve gotten the knock 5 minutes after pulling in to 5am.
Im not sure why but people always knock really HARD! In Grants Pass, Oregon a few months ago a loud knock woke me up- I threw the bus wondow down and screamed "you better be the mutha fuckin police knocking like that" he said "I Am" ohhh okay:) he actually let us stay for a few more hours and was hella cool about it.
Sometimes we park on the street but in Spokane, WA and Port Angeles we woke up to the sound of someone hitting our rear view mirror. 2 broken mirrors.
I decided to write about parking problems after some kids ran up to the bus last night and started shaking it but considered it the night before when someone knocked on the bus at 1am to ask if we have meth. Um no. Im an old fashioned weed smokin mama, my husband and I dont even drink alcohol.
I would say my favorite place to park is rest stops, I can sleep so peacefully listening to the freeway noise but its my sons least favorite because theres no free wifi:'(
This is our life!
I met this guy online about a year and a half ago. I constantly saw him pop up in Facebook groups offering up solid advice to anyone in need. We've talked online regularly over the past year via DM, Facebook groups discussions, Instagram, or a quick phone conversation.
Our relationship started with a Facebook comment over a year ago. As of last week, I considered him a friend who I'd never met.
He happened to be crossing paths and I happened to have a place for him and his family to stay, so we finally had an opportunity to meet in person. We hung out for a couple days, got to know each other a little better, shared our crazy travel adventures, and swapped recommendations.
It's crazy how this lifestyle brings people together. It's really a beautiful thing!
I had a great time, @roderlife - Until our paths cross again! 🍻🍻🍻
We finally figured out a lock that works for the front bus doors! This beast is a Master Lock Magnum with a guarded hasp. After months of trying to genius up something that would work, we stumbled on it at Home Depot. It's basically just a padlock, but the fact that it's housed in a giant piece of steel means it's impossible to just cut it off like you can with an ordinary padlock. #badguysdontbother 😎
For the past 6 months our sink has been our toolbox. Finally it'll be going into our new kitchen! It's funny that we're now parked in the same place we were when I separated this sink from the big old Formica countertop during demo...
Repost from our founder @brockbutterfield He's been building our second Bus Life Adventure #busconversion with all sorts of upgrades and new features. @theabominableheidimonster and owner of @valeriebus helped put in a 12hr day applying 4 coats of roof sealant. We wrote a blog a few weeks back on the process of applying roof sealant to eliminate any roof leaks. Link in bio!
@theabominableheidimonster putting in the hours with me yesterday applying the roof sealant. 12hrs and 4 coats. The Henry's product is an elastomeric paint that also reflects the sun. @buslifeadventure wrote a blog on the product and process to apply it.
Almost done editing our newest video 🎬 Yesterday, with help from Corinne and Danny, we cleaned and stripped windows and primed the rust and bare metal we exposed after removing them. Gotta let this primer cure for a couple days. Fingers crossed no more leaks when we reinstall! 🤞🏼
If you don’t already follow @stinkybarnes rad bus you need to. They can claim #vanlife and #buslife at the same time! Super cool feed, gorgeous warm photos and a really fun design. Be there or be ⬛️! Hope your #skooliesunday is treating you well🌵🧡🍂
