@nba_debate16 Top 10 Point Guards Of All Time
#6: Steph Curry: Steph is almost impossible to rank. He’s played 8 full seasons, and the first 4 seasons he played he was constantly getting injured and he wasn’t an all star caliber player. However, his past 4 seasons he’s been an all star, and has won 2 MVP’s. (One a lot more deserving than the other). He has had so much success -particularly in the past 3 seasons- making it to the finals 3 straight times, winning 2 rings, 2 MVP’s, breaking 3pt records, and all around being a top 5 player in the league. But at the end of the day, as good as he is, he’s only been good for the past 4 seasons whereas a lot of other players have made a career on the fact they were so good for so long. I feel 6 is a fair spot to place Curry right now, but at the end of his career, he should be a top 5 point guard to ever play, as he puts together a couple more great seasons. You can’t rank a player on projections, so I ranked Curry as if he retired today.
#5: Isiah Thomas: Thomas very well could be 4th on this list. It was a toss up between him and the player I ranked 4th. Isiah Thomas was such a gritty, clutch, hard-nosed player, which would serve to be a cultural change for the Detroit Pistons, and provide an identity like we will never see again. (Bad boy Pistons). Just like Steph, Isiah has won 2 rings, against much stronger and even talent, and while he doesn’t have the 2 MVP’s, he does have a a Finals MVP, which is something Steph lacks, and is something that really hurts his rank. Thomas was capable of dropping 30 on MJ, or Magic, or Bird, or anyone else on any given night, and you already knew he would get his teammates involved as good as Magic and Stockton, his other competition at the PG position. Thomas gets overlooked far too often, and the fact ESPN put curry over him last year seemed extremely pre mature in my honest opinion. Thomas was a one of a kind player.
