I Thought I Was Crazy, The Essay © 2017 Frederick J. Cowie, Ph.D.
I thought I was crazy, my whole life. Then at about age sixty-something, during an extremely stressful period of my life which sent me to a medical diagnostician who sent me to a psychological medical person, I got officially diagnosed as bipolar, Asperger's, ADD, la la la. My actual response was: “Oh, there’s names for this shit!” I had, of course, by then, developed behavioral modifications to allow me to somewhat navigate my way through an often vicious society that does not appreciate or want to deal with the disastrous dysfunctions of an over-educated, under-employed, highly-vocal, smart ass. Oh yes, I thought I was crazy until at seventy years old I rolled a car at seventy miles per hour and I suffered a TBI/severe-concussion. Trust me, OJ did it and you don’t know crazy till you’ve actually gone crazy! #stressmanagement #mentalhealth #mentalillness #bipolar #manicdepressive #aspergers #fredcowie #professionalartist #lastchancelifecoach #helenamontana
