This kid is seriously the strongest girl I know. She might not have a working pancreas, but she's tough, sweet, brave and strong. She makes me proud every day as we fight the diabetes monster together. I'm so glad I get to be her mom. 💙 #warriorup #dexcom #warrior #princess #thisisdiabetes #t1d #t1dlookslikeme

Solid Sunday funday leg sesh 😈. Sundays are my favorite because I’m the most rested of the week and I can get into the gym and just absolutely destroy my glutes and hams. It just goes to show that rest and recovery is beyond important to progress and being able to push. Also side note I was injecting insulin in the locker room and got accused of both steroids and heroin. Last time I checked you don’t inject heroin in your leg but okayyyy 🙄🙃. Gotta love being T1 sometimes it’s super entertaining. •

So inspired by the incredible women in the #t1d community every single day. Whenever I see a Sugars tee tagged, my heart grows 3 sizes, I swear. You are all so brave to publicly rock this disease like you do, educating and advocating for yourself and millions of other people every time you put that thing on. The dorky sayings maybe small, but the impact is mighty. 💙💙💙💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 // 📸: @katabetic @congutz @astoldbymarci @torrotorro69 @coffeeandinsulin @tayposey23

5K race in honor of World Diabetes Day, Costa Rica. Today we ran in honor of our lives to create awareness! This is a small recognition for what we do every day. Diabetes is an autoimmune disease that often goes unnoticed. Represents a constant struggle, pricked fingers, injections, syringes, pump infusion set changes, low blood sugars, juice boxes, high blood sugars what means insulin, headaches and frustrations for wanting to feel good. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions. But today we put everything aside and we ran for ourselves and in the name of millions of Diabetics around the world from one pole to the other. Today I ran for everyone and in the name of all my friends from Costa Rica @manfred_pino , Australia @eearff @carbloving_diabetic, Canada @miche_lo , US @everyday_t1d @typelovely, Chile @live.in.colours , Spain @tomasinyo_t1d, France @podiediabetes many other friends around the world that fight this disease with strength, proud and knowledge. 5K might not be a lot but the meaning represents so much. We decided to be happy, celebrate life and the effort we make every day. Together we are stronger! 💙💪🏼

First half marathon: ✅ It was a good day. I felt good. My blood sugar stayed in range (for the most part). And. I. Finished! After crossing the finish line i started uncontrollably crying for like 30 seconds. Throughout the training process I’ve cried tears of happiness, pain, and frustration. But today - today’s tears were pure joy! To my #T1D friends, don’t ever let diabetes stop you from doing anything. The last four months of figuring out how to manage T1D with half marathon training were hard. Absolutely. But so. So. So. Worth it. Absolutely. - Special shout-out to @ryan_eller who was a fantastic coach and encourager the past few months. I couldn’t have done it without you! #liveyourlist #bucketlist #halfmarathon #route66marathon

OK. This is my first post for @the.insulin.type 's #happydiabeticchallenge and I've just realised I'm a day late! I'm still gonna do it.

I was diagnosed when I was 12 and have fought against being diabetic for 22 years. I ignored it. I abused it. I hated it. I avoided going on the pump as that would mean admitting there was something to pay attention to. In 2016 I decided to take control properly and tried the pump. It was like a new diagnosis as I had to relearn everything I had fought. My a1c is the best it's ever been (8.2) and getting better, 3 years ago I couldn't even tell you what it was.
There have been tears and tantrums and fights with myself but I look back and can't believe how awful I felt but didnt realise - not to mention the damage I've done. The next result will be better again. F*ck you Diabetes. #t1diabetic #t1d #t1dlookslikeme #t1 #diabetic

Seriously. Thank you fathead dough for saving my pizza consumption life. I added homemade sausage and local mushrooms. Since the crust has cheese in it, this is super filling. A little goes a long way. YUM. I always liked and stuck to cauliflower crust but it never crisped up unless you added 10 lbs of cheese to the crust. 😆
How to make this: .
- Melt 1.25 c mozzarella cheese and 1 oz cream cheese in the microwave for 90 seconds. Stir half way through. . - Take it out, add 1 egg, 3/4 c almond flour, 1 tsp baking powder and your fav crust spices. (Garlic powder, pepper, oregano, etc) . - Mix the heck out of the dough until it’s sticky. . - Dump it onto a piece of parchment paper. Put another piece of parchment paper on top of it and roll the dough out to fit a cookie sheet. .
- Take the top parchment paper off and poke holes all over with a fork so it doesn’t blow up in your oven. . - Bake for 10 min at 400 degrees.
.
- Take it out and top with desired amount of pizza sauce (trader joe version is super low sugar and low carb) cheese and other toppings. . - Put back in the oven for 6-8 min.

When walking or working out, I actually don't wear my pump at all. The reason is because normally I do at least 20 minutes cardio and I actually drop too low if I do anymore, no matter what my glucose number is (unless over like 250, eek). Does this happen to you guys as well? I try to stick to the 45 minute classes that have half cardio, half strength training (currently obsessed with kickboxing). Those types of classes seem to keep my blood sugars happy when not wearing pump. It also depends on what time of day this is. If I workout in the morning time, I will most likely go high if I am not wearing my pump during workout. My favorite time to workout is either on my lunch break after a light lunch filled with protein, or RIGHT after work when I haven't yet laid down on the couch (there's no comin' back from that), and my brain is still semi-active! {Get home, let my doggie out, get in workout clothes, and hit the road. Come back to numbers somewhere in the 100s range, make dinner, BAM good to go.}⠀
#bitchifeelgreat⠀
⠀
The next morning, I feel accomplished. I feel like I made yesterday count, and it gives me more mental energy and clarity to start this new day. My body is slightly sore (in a fabulous way), which makes me feel physically accomplished as well. Even though I suffer from adrenal insufficiency, the power of the mind over the body is massive. Don't forget this. You don't have to be doing the most vigorous exercises on the daily, but try taking part in walking, swimming, yoga, pilates, tai chi... etc. It will also kick start your metabolism and encourage healthy sleep patterns. ⠀
⠀
Use the right kind of exercise to your advantage. Less insulin = Leaner body = Healthier YOU! 🤸🏽‍♀️⠀
⠀
