Happy Halloween. I'm trying out my new daylight therapy lamp. Cos you know, the first commandment of Capitalism says: when you have a problem, all you need to do is to buy something. Winter Blues: I get them. Much as I'm excited to escape winter next week, I'm already a little worried about the post-vacation blues I'll suffer when I return.
It's when I really understand depression, because I can't just "snap out of it" or "look on the bright side" or "be thankful you got away"...all info I've been told when I share how down I feel. 😔
It's like a cloud follows you around. ☁️ An unwanted, unhappy cloud. It usually lasts a few days...it's real and it feels bad and I understand.
Remedies I'm trying this year:
- a "Happy Lamp" (formerly called a SAD lamp) to sit by for few minutes each morning
- vitamin D x 1000mg morning and night
- exercise x 30 minutes every day
- healthy eating (limiting sugars and carbs that worsen depression)
- meditation podcasts
- sharing when I'm down rather than suffering in silence
