#TBT to our wedding day April 3, 2012 I’m so glad to be with my wonderful spouse. His 30th birthday is this weekend! He’s been my rock through everything. The reality is, no one expects to become chronically ill. No one especially expects it to begin in your 20s, shortly into a marriage. But we take “in sickness and in health” very seriously. Damian has shown an amazing amount of love and understanding, even when things have been rough. I don’t know what I would do without him. He’s truly my best friend. We’re coming up on 8 years together this fall. I encourage anyone in a serous relationship to truly discuss health and what happens if someone gets sick. Even if you don’t think it could happen to you. If you know it’s something you couldn’t handle - which I can understand - I don’t even want to deal with it myself and it’s my body - then be upfront about it with your partner. Our relationship works through true teamwork and communication. We aren’t shy at bringing anything up and our communication and argument or debate style has only ever improved though being honest and listening to each other. Throw back Thursday ! To when I first joined the Fire dept when I was 16. I had braces, I was shy, and I had more to learn than I ever could have imagined.
Today I don't have braces.. I'm not shy. Basically my sass never ends. I continue to learn something new every time I put that gear on, and I never want to stop learning and improving.
