It’s morning and it’s a miniature mess in our studio on wheels.
-
The sun’s shining, fresh snow’s gleaming on the mountains, and our stuff’s strewn over the seats, dirt and crusty shoes on the ground, our boxes of books from the trunk placed in the front seat, on our tiny kitchen counter, anywhere really, anywhere at all.
-
I’ve never seen much good in tidiness. The world’s a beautiful mess, and I find endless inspiration in disorder. There are ideas in my piles of clothes, new novels in those boxes behind my head. Our house may be a holy hopeless heap of clutter, but my brain’s in perfect order, burning with millions of messy possibilities.

Some of you are often curious about our bed location in the front of the trailer. After a few months of having it this way, here's what we think:

LIGHT // This is by far the sunniest area of the trailer. There are 9 windows around the bed. That's both good and bad. For the occasional lazy Sunday afternoon nap: good. For trying to block out all light to sleep at night because you're a vampire: bad. But our sleep cycles in here have become more of a go to sleep at dark and wake up with the sun. Which isn't a bad thing at all.

SIZE // All we could cram in here was a full sized bed. We have a 27' Overlander. Most people I've seen put a bed in the front have the longer 31' models that can accommodate a queen. It's not as cramped as we were worried it'd be when we were building it. But if we had to do it over again, we'd for sure build a queen sized bed in the rear of the trailer and position it longways for room to get in and out on the sides. Climbing over a body in the night to go to the restroom is a skill I really didn't want to master. 😂

STORAGE // We built the bed high enough to be able to make for a ton of storage room. We have chairs, tool boxes, a tent, hammocks, all kinds of stuff under the bed. Vintage Airstreams (and maybe new ones too?) are seriously lacking in the storage department so wherever you can build in storage is huge.

LOCATION // It's on top of the door which we have a love/hate with. If there were ever an emergency or a fire or anything of the sort, we could easily pop out the door. But on the other hand, it was a little hard to get used to the door being *right* there. Our first night I told Jason he's sleeping on the outside so he "gets murdered first." #truelove 😂

Ooh and that peek of purple light on the bottom left is our teeny weeny Christmas tree. Check our IG story to see it in action. 😍

If there is one thing I love about living on the road, it is meeting people from all over the country. The community is amazing. 📷 Thanks to @allinthebedofatruck for the drone shot.

We literally work everyday, 7 days a week, non stop it feels like. But when a Home gets to this stage of completion, it makes every second of work well worth it. Fancy photos to come by the end of the week. Headed to Sedona with Joe’s brother without the van to save some gas money since we have a lot of driving to do at the end of the month, but luckily we have our cozy @beholdnsee.co blanket to keep us warm in these cool fall nights. It’s funny how different it is without the van with us here. We actually have to remember things to keep us warm as opposed to just having them nearby!! #BeholdandSee

One of the very first projects I sketched up when I bought the van was a roof rack. I wanted to be able to toss my ski carrier up there and haul gear easily. Took a lot of thought to figure out how to support it from the inside with such a high top...but we got there!
