Bring a little fun to my trip to Carrapateena for my other job. Life isn't always rainbows and bicycles so I wanted to show a rare shot of what my real life looks like.
When I quit my job a couple of months ago I said I'd never work in construction again! Whoops! 🙈😂

A night well spent at @believeintmw House at @hopkinschildrens Center with the ABC Young Leader crew. A holiday feast, balloon artist, Christmas music, and the hope that at the very least, for one night, we can help the children and their families escape into a safe haven of happiness and joy. Do not for one second underestimate the power of giving & the impact we can make, even as individuals. I am truly, absolutely, 100% convinced that a) the key to finding authentic fulfillment in our lives can only come in the form of giving to others and b) that there is nothing more powerful than that of human connection in it's rawest form. It's only human nature to look "inside" and to ask ourselves "What do I want?" "What do I need?". "What's going to make ME happy?" The irony here is, that once we shift that focus "outside,"and ask "What do THEY need?" "What do THEY want?" "What will make THEM happy?" we quickly find what we were searching for all along- peace, gratitude, and fulfillment within ourselves. It has taken me a full 30 spins around the world to fully understand this, and I imagine will take another full 30 of strength-building to successfully be able to completely and unequivocally exemplify and embrace this concept in every aspect of my life....but I'm up for the challenge!
For years I tried to look for something better for my career. I would get caught up in titles and pay instead of focusing on meaningful work. Money is important but studies show most people are happier when they do work they feel is important. I’ve always been drawn to architecture and interior design but could never wrap my head around all the details. After being laid off I was always terrified of project based work and started to focus on operations. I became frustrated because I never had the budget to make things perfect which I wanted for my occupants. But I realized construction and having input on design excited me the most. Visiting other projects and developments inspired me. So I decided I can’t live in fear and need to follow my passion which is real estate development. When I started this IG I wanted to show positivity and to humanize us. We are not victims or a culture to appropriate and water down. So I don’t post these images for vanity sake (even though I did like my hair and outfit that day) but to remind people we go to school, hold powerful positions, own businesses, pay bills and taxes just like the rest. #realestate#construction#womeninconstruction#womeninrealestate#bayarea#losangeles#la#oakland#passion
A night off to celebrate a great year for She Skills. Slipping into holiday mode with a round of putt putt with the She Skills team at @victoriapark. I came last, but I looked stylish doing it 😎 #puttputt#sheskills#scrubsupok
Last week, while her husband was in London for work, my friend @hollyrlayer and I built a table to surprise him. We built the whole thing on my IG story. Did you see it? The top came from a vintage work table that had been in her husband's family for years. Check out the vice on the end. It's so cool. Holly was the star of the show for this project. She figured out exactly what she wanted, and she made beautiful detailed drawings. She also did the bulk of the painting and finish work. I played the parts of troubleshooter, tool expert, spare hands, and time-keeper. Today, she sent me this photo of the table loaded up with cookbooks and her brand new gorgeous Tiffany lamp. I loved working on this project so much that I cannot wait to create something similar for #blakehillhouse Sidenote: The #kregjig is my new favorite tool. .
IMPORTANT LESSON LEARNED: Know what the voltage coming into the house is before buying a baseboard heater. I installed a 750w heater, but it’s 750w @ 240v. This condo only has 208v running into it. I had to buy a 750w @ 208v from my electrical supplier. They don’t sell them at Home Depot. HD only sells 208/240. Check and understand the label! Or ask me for help - I’m a pro at this by now. 😝 Haha
