The Dyson Supersonic blow dryer was literally the most exciting purchase in my life. I love Dyson- their technology, quality and customer service are second to none. But it’s priced accordingly- the Supersonic retails for $500 CAD. I purchased it at a discount, but it was still a splurge. I had obsessed over it for a year, so I was prepared for the cost.
The Supersonic claims to deliver intelligent heat control and shine, dry hair faster, and straighten and smooth. It comes with 3 attachments: a smoothing nozzle, “styling concentrator” and a diffuser.
My first impressions were good. It’s lightweight and has good weight distribution, which I found much easier on my shoulders. It’s also very quiet.
Initially I used it without an attachment. Although it blew my hair around a lot, it dried much faster than normal. I was able to achieve good volume, and my hair had slightly less flyaways. No change in shine. My hair felt very dry, but I thought it could have been due to being out of town without my normal hair products.
Once I tried it at home, with my own products, things got... bad. My hair felt scorched. Like a tangled rats nest. I honestly thought I had irreparably burnt my hair- even though I kept it to the low heat. I’m assuming this was exacerbated by my hard water and our dry climate.
I looked at reviews online, which are 90% extremely positive. But there still were a fair amount of people who complained of my problem. I took someone’s advice, and tried it with the smoothing attachment. Oddly enough, my hair didn’t feel burnt anymore, but it still felt very dry. I have since tried using the smoothing attachment several times, but I’m just not able to achieve the light, bouncy texture that my hair normally has. It’s like the Dyson takes all the life out of my hair.
I have never been more disappointed. I wanted to love it so bad. I wish I was one of those people that say the Supersonic was the best thing to happen to their hair. I have no idea why it didn’t work for me, so I can’t even advise someone on whether to purchase it or not. Sadly, I have to return the beauty tool of my dreams. Ugh. Back to my $40, 10 year old Conair...

I wanted to show these pictures to show that doing good lashes doesn’t come that easy, it takes time and patience. We invest a lot of time to become better everyday and it’s not always beautiful. Being a lash technician is a constant learning. BUT at the end of each day, I’m so happy to see what I have accomplished, that I have invest and believe in myself enough to keep going. I also wanted to say Thank you to the ladies that have been with me since the beginning! I’m also so glad that I found 2 amazing ladies to be part of Lashes By Pauzé that are ready to learn like i do. 💜❤️ Catherine xo
