Flashback to Dance Rites 2016, part of our annual #Homeground festival. Dance Rites is Australia’s national Indigenous dance competition which aims to ensure important cultural knowledge including language, dance, skin markings and instruments is shared from one generation to the next. Teaching and learning traditional practices is the best way to reclaim songlines, celebrate and enjoy culture.
The Dance Rites competition is inspired by Pow Wow Circuit in North America and Canada, and by the Kapa Haka in New Zealand.
Dance Rites 2017 heats will take place in the morning of Sunday November 26 (10am-1pm) with the finals taking place in the evening (5-7pm). Come join the crowd and celebrate a day of shared culture, language and excellent dance moves. #dancerites#sydneyoperahouse#sydneyharbourbridge#indigenous#firstnations#australia
Grab your ocarina, your deku sticks and your Hylian sword, because The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of Goddesses is happening this Sunday at the Opera House! Prepare your minds, body and soul for an epic Zeldathon like none other.
It might be a bit grey outside today, but we still have a reason to celebrate! On this day in 1973, Queen Elizabeth II opened the Opera House.
We're 44 years young today 🎂🎁🎊✨! 📷 Hamilton Lund #sydneyoperahouse#birthday#44yearsyoung
